My top three independent Coffee shops in Norwich

Strangers coffee

Sit back and watch the world go by in their Pottergate based cafe with fresh sandwiches, pastries and hot & cold beverages. Founded in 2014, the company has become a dominant business throughout the city, many bars and restaurants use Strangers as their coffee creating a huge bond and connection across the city. Their second location is close by and is the perfect location to grab a coffee to go or pick up another bag of roasted coffee beans. Chat away to the roastery team as they work and help you pick out the best beans for your taste. At present I am making my way through the Roasters Blend beans; a mix of Guatemala and Colombian coffee beans. At present across the city at All Saints Green is Strangers third and newest location, currently offering take away coffees with the space to open again as a dine in cafe when the chance arrives in May.

Location: 21 Pottergate, Coffee House // 10 Dove Street, Roasters // All Saints Green, Cafe.

My go-to Coffee order: Flat White or Espresso & Tonic on warmer days

Favourite Coffee beans: Colombia Campo Santo

All sites are open Monday to Saturday from 9am.

Aroma Norwich

Coffee from Aroma

Found on Upper King Street between Tombland and Prince of Wales Road. The cafe is sitting pretty in a great location for people taking their daily walk around the cathedral, or for those heading out of the city towards the train station early in the morning. Alongside the classic hot drinks and additional extras like syrups, there’s always something to snack on. They also make some really nice cold drinks including a Matcha Frappe with agave syrup. Grab a seat upstairs or a stool downstairs and watch the world go by.

Location: Upper King Street, opposite Strutt & Parker.

My go-to Coffee order: Flat White or Americano with a dash of Maple Syrup.

Kofra coffee Roasters and Brewers

This year marks Kofra’s seventh birthday of sourcing, roasting and resting coffee. Originally starting out only brewing coffee the business has propelled into multiple cafe stops across the city and they have recently added a fourth, popping up in Trowse just outside the city centre. Their city centre location on Upper St. Giles is a perfect place to grab a coffee, snack but also to find something a little more. Step into a whole new level of pantry shopping, pick up a bottle of two of craft beers or a natural wine, dry-aged beef and lots more items. As well as their signature coffee beans. [Kofra was my go-to coffee shop on my morning walks into the city as a university student heading into the city from the golden triangle.

Location: 81 Upper St. Giles // 16 Onley Street // 1 Bell Road

My go-to Coffee order: Espresso or Flat White
